Alexia María was five when she began playing with scraps of fabric and broken zippers in her grandmother’s atelier in Mexicali, Mexico. It was there that she first learned the possibilities of making something beautiful by hand, an early education that would eventually shape the fashion label carrying her name.
Today, Alexia María is known for feminine silhouettes, dramatic proportions and the statement bows that have become one of her signatures. Over the past 12 years, her designs have found their way onto Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani, Paris Hilton and America Ferrera, while Nadia Ferreira has chosen her gowns for major occasions, including the 2025 ¡HOLA! Latina Powerhouse gala in Miami.
She did it all from Southern California. Rather than relocating to one of fashion’s traditional capitals, Alexia María established her company in San Diego and developed a visual language distinctive enough to command attention far beyond it.
In 2026, she is pushing that vision into its next chapter.
Alexia María introduced “A Year of Elegance,” moving away from traditional seasonal releases in favor of one annual, seasonless collection. Unveiled at an event in Greenwich Village, the collection brought together the sculptural silhouettes, convertible skirts and statement bows that have become synonymous with her work.
Olivia Palermo co-hosted the launch and wore Alexia María from head to toe. Two months later, Lisa Ann Walter chose the label for the 2026 Actor Awards red carpet, extending a celebrity following that has grown alongside the brand.
The new approach is also a statement about how Alexia María wants to make fashion. Instead of keeping pace with an endless calendar of seasonal drops, she is concentrating on pieces designed for longevity and versatility while preserving the craftsmanship that has defined her work from the beginning.
For Alexia María, who has described herself as “an immigrant and Latina in the fashion space,” that connection to craft remains personal. Her pieces are still hand-finished in her San Diego atelier, carrying forward an appreciation for making things by hand that began with her grandmother in Mexicali.
More than a decade into her namesake label, Alexia María has created something immediately recognizable in an industry built around what comes next. In 2026, she is taking the brand forward without abandoning what made it hers in the first place: a distinct point of view, meticulous craftsmanship and the confidence to follow her own calendar.
