Carolina Herrera returned to the New York runway with a confident Fall 2026 collection that paid homage to the house’s founder and the unmistakable glamour of the 1980s. Under the creative direction of Wes Gordon, the New York–based fashion house reaffirmed its heritage by highlighting the precise tailoring, bold prints, sculpted silhouettes, and sparkle that have defined the brand’s signature elegance since its beginnings.
This season, Gordon looked to the spirit of creative women as his starting point. “This collection was inspired by women in the arts. It was really an homage to creative, brilliant females. We were founded by one in 1981. And we've supported amazing initiatives for women in the arts ever since. And this collection kind of began by looking at sculptors, painters, photographers, collectors, and gallerists that inspire me. And that kind of finishing touch on that was inviting seven amazing artists to join our cast of models today.”
The tribute felt particularly fitting for a house established in New York in 1981, at the height of bold silhouettes and unapologetic glamour. Structured tailoring, dramatic shapes and high-impact color echoed the founder’s 1980s aesthetic, reinterpreted through Gordon’s contemporary lens.
Creatives, including Amy Sherald, Rachel Feinstein, Ming Smith, Eliza Douglas, and Hannah Traore, walked in the show, reinforcing the collection’s celebration of women shaping contemporary culture. Despite the hectic schedule surrounding Fashion Week, the designer praised the collaborators who helped bring the vision to life.
“You know, they were remarkably generous and accommodating with their time. I'm so grateful to them. They're all so busy, and they really were such good sports. They came from multiple fittings. They were excited. They were happy. I think I would be so scared if I were asked to do this. But they were amazing, and in a short timeline, they made it happen.”

Color remained central to the collection’s identity, a defining Herrera signature. We're a house of color and you see it by that beautiful mural wrapping the space, which was inspired by our makeup and beauty. And every season, the color palette is so important to me. This season I introduced a really vibrant, beautiful purple, our bright kind of chilly red, and I think the pairing is so beautiful together, as well as a deep, rich emerald green.”
The vivid purple, striking red and saturated emerald reinforced the house’s celebratory energy, while prints and embellishments added sparkle suited to the autumn season. Though Carolina Herrera has staged shows internationally, including in Spain and Brazil, New York remains its anchor.
“We're always a part of New York Fashion Week. We were founded in New York. New York is home. I'm proud to be a New York designer. As an energy and a magic to this city and the creative community in this city that's so unique and so important.”
At its core, the collection reaffirmed the brand’s enduring commitment to elegance. “I just try to make every decision I have throughout the day, I try to choose what's the most beautiful, whether it's a color or a fabric or a shape.”
And when asked whether he has picked up any Spanish while working within the Herrera legacy, Gordon added with a smile: “I'm learning! My children speak Spanish, so they're teaching me.”

The show drew an influential guest list, including Ariana DeBose, Olivia Palermo, Martha Stewart, Nicky Hilton and Miss Venezuela Stephany Abasali.
Argentinian singer Emilia, one of the show's special guests, expressed her excitement about attending New York Fashion Week for the first time. “It's a huge pleasure. I think this is my first time at Fashion Week here in New York. It's an honor to be here at Carolina Herrera wearing one of her designs. It's truly a huge pleasure, and I'm very happy to represent Argentina. I had the fitting yesterday, tried it on today, and it fits perfectly.”
While model and entrepreneur Valentina Ferrer echoed the sentiment of elegance associated with the brand: “The truth is that I am happy, more than just a Latin designer, obviously. I feel super elegant. I just left Rio in the garden with this elegance from Carolina. Carolina Herrera makes me feel like a refined and elegant woman.”
