Maluma and Shakira are joining forces again, and their next collaboration officially has a name and release date. The Colombian superstars announced “AGUA” on September 9, revealing that the new song will arrive on September 17, 2026. The release reunites two of Latin music’s biggest names eight years after their last collaboration, “Clandestino.”
Maluma shared the announcement on Instagram alongside a striking promotional image with Shakira. “AGUA 💦 🇨🇴 17.09.26 Nos fuimos Mundialllll,” he wrote.

The announcement came after Maluma spent hours teasing the identity of his mystery collaborator. According to Infobae, Maluma first posted an artistic image showing two silhouettes, one male and one female, without revealing the woman’s identity. He asked followers to guess who she was while promising that a new collaboration announcement was coming.
The mystery did not last long. Maluma subsequently revealed that the woman was Shakira, sharing the official promotional image featuring the pair together. He also referred to the singer as “la reina” as he celebrated their reunion. The announcement confirmed two important details: the song is called “AGUA,” and it will be released September 17.

Fans may already have their first clue. Before revealing Shakira as his collaborator, Maluma shared TikTok videos teasing “AGUA.” Consequence reports that the previews featured a merengue-style sound, with Maluma dancing along to snippets of the unreleased track.
That could make “AGUA” a noticeable change of pace from some of Maluma and Shakira’s previous collaborations.
