Jack Schlossberg wasn't a fan of "Love Story." Unlike audiences across the country who made "Love Story" into one of this year's biggest pop culture events, Schlossberg has been critical of the project since its inception. In a new interview, he shared his mother's unexpected reaction to the TV show.

Schlossberg is the grandson of President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, belonging to one of the country's most storied and political families. While he made it clear that he and his mother, Caroline Kennedy, didn't watch "Love Story," he had to show her a clip of the show.

In an appearance on "Next Question with Katie Couric," Schlossberg revealed that he showed a clip of Grace Gummer's performance to his mother. Gummer plays a fictional version of Caroline Kennedy in the series, having a prominent role as JFK Jr's close sister.

“I showed her a clip of her,” said Schlossberg, “and we were laughing so hard.”

“The person was freaking out,” he said of Gummer, “and we're just laughing so hard as if that's how my mom acts.”

Schlossberg also had some criticism of how the show depicted his father, Edwin Schlossberg, who was portrayed by the actor Ben Shenkman. “They had my dad dressed up in some plaid outfit,” he said. “My dad's the most stylish guy I've ever met, so it's funny.”

Couric and Schlossberg also discussed the portrayal of his parents and how they weren't depicted in a positive light. “The two nicest, most dignified, private people in the whole world,” he said of his parents, “who do nothing but help others.”

Schlossberg has no problems with audiences who enjoyed the show

Still, Schlossberg clarified that he had no problems with the public who enjoyed the story and were interested in this type of content. “I’m glad my uncle John was so cool,” he said.

“It's not surprising that people, once they remember who he was, want to dress like him and be like him. He was awesome. He was a smart, attractive person who cared about politics and tried to blend politics and media in his time, just like I'm trying to do right now with social media and politics and our campaign.”

Schlossberg is hoping to join the family business of politics. He's a writer and served as Vogue's political correspondent in 2024 after acquiring a law degree from Harvard University. He's now running for Congress, running to represent New York's 12th Congressional District.
