Blake Lively is saying goodbye to her beverage business. After a rollercoaster of the last couple of years, the actress’s company, which includes nonalcoholic mixer brand Betty Buzz and its sister line of canned cocktails, Betty Booze, will cease operations, according to PEOPLE.

The news comes after Lively's public image took a hit during the promotional tour for It Ends With Us in 2024. The film, which she starred in alongside director Justin Baldoni, became the center of what felt like a never-ending publicized dispute between the two. And as the controversy grew, it wasn't just Lively's reputation making headlines. Her business was also feeling the effects.

According to TMZ, trademark records show that while the Betty Buzz and Betty Booze trademarks remain active, several other applications connected to the company have been abandoned. Those applications included plans for beer-based products, nonalcoholic carbonated beverages, and other offerings.

A source with knowledge also confirmed to PEOPLE that the abandoned applications covered those additional products.

The timing is notable given what came to light during Lively’s legal battle with Baldoni. In May 2026, TMZ obtained emails and text messages from Lively’s team at Betty Booze that showed how companies were reacting to the backlash surrounding the movie.

In a September 10, 2024, email, a member of Lively’s team described a conversation with a representative connected to Kroger. According to the message, the retailer had discussed Betty Booze and was concerned about the negative attention surrounding Lively’s movie interviews.

“There is a negative taste in Kroger’s mouth based on the [Blake Lively] interview (press) from the movie, and they said they will be closely monitoring sales on the brand,” the team member wrote, according to TMZ.

The email also said Kroger was anticipating a possible negative sales impact and wanted to know what Lively planned to do to address the situation.

TMZ also reported that a representative for Princess Cruises told the Betty Booze team that the company's legal ethics and compliance committee was concerned about Lively.

The correspondence was part of the material that surfaced during Lively and Baldoni’s legal dispute. Lively alleged that Baldoni and others retaliated against her after she raised concerns about his behavior on the film set, including through an effort to damage her reputation. Baldoni denied the allegations.

Lively filed suit in December 2024, while Baldoni later filed a $400 million countersuit against the actress, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist. His lawsuit was dismissed. The two sides eventually settled their remaining claims in May 2026.

While the emails show that the backlash created concerns for Betty Booze and its business relationships, there has been no confirmation that the controversy directly caused the company to shut down.

What happened to Betty Buzz and Betty Booze?

Lively launched Betty Buzz in 2021 with a line of nonalcoholic sparkling mixers. She expanded into alcoholic drinks with Betty Booze in 2023, introducing ready-to-drink cocktails before adding vodka iced teas to the lineup.

The actress previously explained that the drinks were inspired by recipes she made at home and featured real fruit and ingredients. The brands also secured retail partnerships, with Betty Buzz products carried by Whole Foods and Betty Booze available through Total Wine, according to TMZ.

But the outlet also pointed to a slowdown in the brands' social media activity. Betty Buzz last posted on Instagram on April 5, while Betty Booze's most recent post was September 28, despite both accounts previously posting regularly.

The company has not publicly detailed the reasons behind its decision to wind down.
