In an interview with Modern Luxury, Sánchez Bezos revealed that some advice she received from Katy Perry changed her life, inspiring her to publish her first book, "The Fly Who Flew to Space."

"Katy Perry told me once, 'Dreams don’t have deadlines.' I’ve never forgotten it," said Sánchez Bezos. "I always dreamed of writing a book and didn’t get it done until my 50s. She was right."

Sánchez Bezos published her first book in 2024, an emotional journey for her. While she'd always dreamed of writing one, she's dyslexic, something that has impacted her self-esteem throughout her life.

When sharing details about one of her mentors, Sánchez Bezos gave credit to her community college professor, who helped identify her dyslexia. "I’d spent my whole life thinking I was stupid. One conversation changed all of that. I learned that I just think differently. I dedicated my second book to her," she said.

Earlier this year, Sánchez Bezos released "The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea," and she's currently working on "The Fly Who Flew to the North Pole."

Earlier this year, while promoting her second book, Sánchez Bezos revealed that her husband, Jeff Bezos, plays a key role in her editing process.

"Jeff is actually my best editor," she told PEOPLE. "He will sit with me and go through pages, and he is genuinely invested in every detail. But what surprised me most is how much he cares about the illustrations."

"There is a submarine in this book, and when I showed him the early concept, he said, 'Make it more mystical, make it more magical, lean into the wonder of it.' And that submarine became one of my favorite things in the entire book. He just sees things bigger."

Sánchez Bezos has shared that with every book she writes, she learns more about the book's destination, whether that's space, the ocean, or the North Pole. "The thing that stayed with me most was deep-sea coral. These corals exist in complete darkness, under crushing pressure, where nothing should survive and they are thriving," she said. "That felt like such a powerful metaphor I almost could not believe it was real."
