Kris Jenner has built an empire out of turning unexpected opportunities into lucrative business deals. But apparently, even the world's most famous momager has limits, especially when her daughter Kim Kardashian gets involved.
During the October 29 episode of Hulu's The Kardashians, the 70-year-old reality star revealed that she had received an offer to become a spokesperson for Depend, the adult incontinence brand. While Jenner seemed surprisingly open to the opportunity, Kardashian, 46, reportedly wasn't having it.
And Jenner wasn't particularly thrilled about her daughter's decision. The unexpected business proposal came while Jenner was visiting Kardashian on the set of her upcoming comedy film, “The Fifth Wheel,” directed by Eva Longoria.
What started as an ordinary conversation quickly turned into one of the episode's funniest moments, complete with jokes about aging, money, and the kind of endorsement deal Jenner was apparently willing to entertain.
Kris Jenner Reveals Her Unexpected Adult Diaper Endorsement Offer
Jenner was with Longoria when she received the surprising proposal. Rather than keeping the offer private, the Kardashian family matriarch immediately shared the news with the actress and director. “They want me to do Depends!” Jenner exclaimed.
Longoria, 51, found the situation amusing, especially given her own recent experience embracing opportunities aimed at older audiences. The actress joked about appearing on the cover of AARP's magazine, prompting Jenner to admit that she was a little jealous.
Longoria then encouraged Jenner to find out exactly how much the proposed partnership would pay.
“How many millions? I’m putting a diaper on, babe,” Jenner joked.
Why Did Kim Kardashian Stop Kris Jenner From Doing the Depend Ad?
Despite Jenner's willingness to consider the opportunity, the proposed campaign never happened. During a confessional interview on The Kardashians, Jenner explained that her daughter had objected to the partnership. “I didn’t end up doing it. Kim said no,” Jenner revealed.
She jokingly complained about Kardashian's response, calling her daughter a killjoy and pointing out that needing to use the bathroom is a universal experience. Although Jenner didn't elaborate on Kardashian's specific reasoning, the exchange suggested that Kim's opinion carried considerable weight in the final decision.
The episode did not disclose how much money Jenner was offered, whether negotiations had progressed, or whether the campaign would have involved television commercials, digital advertising, or other promotional appearances.
Kim Kardashian Once Said She Would Wear Adult Diapers for Fashion
Interestingly, Kardashian's apparent objection to her mother's potential endorsement deal comes with an unexpected twist. The SKIMS founder previously admitted that she would consider wearing adult diapers herself, although for an entirely different reason.
During an April 2022 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kardashian discussed the uncomfortable outfits she has worn in the name of fashion.
The reality star explained that she was willing to tolerate extreme discomfort if a look required it, even if that meant finding unconventional solutions to avoid bathroom breaks.
Kardashian also revealed that she had purchased adult diapers while preparing for a lengthy law examination because she initially believed she wouldn't be allowed to leave for bathroom breaks.
She ultimately didn't need to use them.
