Blue Ivy Carter is growing up right before our eyes, and her latest appearance alongside mom Beyoncé has everyone taking a second look. The 14-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z appeared noticeably taller than her superstar mother during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
But it wasn't just Blue Ivy's height that stood out. Her resemblance to Beyoncé, confident fashion choices, and increasingly grown-up appearance made the rare family outing especially memorable
The teenager joined her mother, younger sister Rumi Carter, 9, grandmother Tina Knowles and former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland for the grand opening of the Knowles-Rowland House, a supportive housing development designed to help people experiencing chronic homelessness.
Blue Ivy Towers Over Beyoncé in Stylish Houston Appearance
Blue Ivy, who celebrated her 14th birthday in January, looked remarkably grown-up as she stood beside her mother during the ceremony. The teenager appeared to have surpassed Beyoncé in height, particularly in the heels she wore for the occasion.
Blue Ivy kept her outfit youthful and effortlessly cool, choosing a dark green A Bathing Ape jersey-style top with white detailing, loose-fitting light-wash jeans and a metallic silver belt. She completed the look with rectangular sunglasses, hoop earrings, a sparkling choker necklace and her curly hair pulled into a ponytail.
The casual-meets-polished outfit reflected the personal style Blue Ivy has been developing during her increasingly frequent public appearances.
Beyoncé, 45, opted for a more glamorous look in a camel-colored asymmetrical wrap dress featuring a plunging neckline, ruched detailing and a thigh-high slit.
The Grammy-winning singer wore her blonde hair in a voluminous blowout, creating a striking contrast with her daughter's sporty ensemble.
Despite their different fashion choices, the mother-daughter resemblance was hard to miss, from their facial features to their hairstyles and confident presence.
Beyoncé Brings Blue Ivy and Rumi to Houston Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The event was also a rare opportunity to see Beyoncé accompanied by both of her daughters. Blue Ivy's younger sister, Rumi, 9, joined the family in a black dress, coordinating cardigan and sneakers. Like her older sister, she wore her curls in a ponytail.
The sisters stood alongside their mother as the family celebrated the opening of the Knowles-Rowland House at St. John's Downtown Church.
During the ceremony, Beyoncé invited Blue Ivy and Rumi to participate in the ribbon-cutting, allowing her daughters to take part in a project closely connected to their family's history.
Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, and longtime friend Kelly Rowland also attended, turning the event into a multigenerational family gathering.
Beyoncé Reflects on Her Childhood Church in Houston
The occasion was especially personal for Beyoncé, who grew up attending St. John's Church and singing in its youth choir.
During the celebration, the singer spoke about her connection to the church and thanked pastors Rudy and Juanita Rasmus for their influence on her life. "This church was our foundation. I was baptized right here," Beyoncé said, reflecting on the role the congregation played during her childhood.
Tina Knowles also spoke about the importance of teaching her daughters compassion and community service.
