Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner could be eyeing a major change of scenery. After years of building a life in South Florida, the couple has reportedly been house hunting on the opposite coast, touring luxury properties in Malibu and raising the question of whether Los Angeles could become their next home base.
According to Page Six, Ivanka and Jared were recently spotted looking at high-end properties in Malibu, the exclusive California coastal enclave that has long attracted Hollywood stars, billionaires and business moguls.
Their California visit wasn't all business. The couple was also spotted dining at Nobu Malibu, one of the area's most famous celebrity hotspots, accompanied by a Secret Service detail.
A representative for Ivanka and Jared declined to comment to the publication about their reported house hunt, and there is currently no confirmation that the couple has purchased a property in California or plans to permanently relocate from Florida.
Still, the timing comes as the Kushner family's ties to Los Angeles are growing considerably. Jared's younger brother, Joshua Kushner, is part of the group acquiring the Los Angeles Lakers in a record-breaking $12.5 billion deal. Joshua is purchasing the legendary NBA franchise alongside former Disney CEO Bob Iger, with the transaction still subject to league approval.
Family ties already extend to Malibu:
Joshua and his wife, Karlie Kloss, already have an impressive connection to the same California community where Ivanka and Jared have reportedly been looking for a home.
The couple purchased Malibu's iconic Wave House for $29.5 million in 2024. Designed by celebrated architect Harry Gesner, the dramatic oceanfront residence is one of the coastal city's most recognizable homes.
That means a Malibu purchase by Ivanka and Jared could put the brothers and their families significantly closer together while giving Ivanka and Jared a base near Los Angeles.
Their reported search also comes as Joshua prepares to take on a much more prominent role in the city through the Lakers acquisition. Page Six suggested Ivanka and Jared could become familiar faces courtside at Lakers games following the deal, though there has been no confirmation that Jared will have any involvement in the ownership group.
Could they trade Miami for Malibu?
For now, Ivanka and Jared remain firmly established in South Florida. After leaving Washington, D.C., the couple relocated to Miami and purchased property on Indian Creek Island, the ultra-exclusive community famously nicknamed the "Billionaire Bunker."
The private island has become home to an increasingly high-profile group of residents, offering the privacy and security that have defined Ivanka and Jared's life since leaving Washington.
Malibu, however, could offer a West Coast version of that lifestyle. The oceanfront community combines privacy, spectacular coastal properties and easy access to Los Angeles, while remaining one of Southern California's most coveted addresses.
Whether Ivanka and Jared are considering a permanent move, looking for a second home, or simply exploring their options remains unclear. But their reported tour of Malibu's multimillion-dollar real estate market comes at an interesting moment for the family.
With Joshua and Karlie already owning a landmark home in Malibu and Joshua's Lakers deal creating a major new connection to Los Angeles, Ivanka and Jared may soon have more reasons than ever to spend time on the West Coast.
