Whoopi Goldberg is getting candid about the reality behind her The View paycheck. The longtime co-host addressed perceptions about her wealth during a recent podcast appearance, suggesting that the public would be "shocked" if they discovered how much she earns from hosting The View.

The 70-year-old star has co-hosted and moderated the ABC talk show since 2007 and confessed that it is a lucrative job when she appeared on a recent episode of the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast.

Whoopi Goldberg recently opened up about her 'The View' paycheck, admitting that the salary is one of the things she loves most about her longtime hosting gig.

Asked what she loves most about hosting The View by Palmer, Whoopi replied, "The check. I love the check." Palmer responded, "I can only imagine what that check is." The Sister Act star replied, "No, no, you can't. You would be shocked. As soon as they showed you that check, you'd be like, 'What the?'"

While Whoopi did not disclose her exact salary, Entertainment Tonight cited reports that estimates her annual earnings from The View at around $8 million.

'It's good to have a job'

Goldberg has been on The View panel for longer than all of her current TV colleagues, with the exception of Joy Behar, and believes that the public "identify" with her outspoken approach.

The EGOT-winner said, "The public gets me. They don't always like me, but they get me."

Whoopi Goldberg has been a fixture on The View since 2007, making her one of the longest-serving co-hosts in the daytime show’s history.

Although Whoopi was honest that money is a big factor in keeping her on The View, she also expressed her gratitude that she is able to go to work every day. "It's good to have a job. A lot of people don't have jobs right now, so I'm lucky."

Whoopi's Auction

Earlier this year, Whoopi auctioned off some of her career "treasures", including costumes and personal memorabilia, after teaming up with Julien's Auctions.

In a statement to WWD before the sale, she shared, "Over seven decades of a life well lived and more than 40 years of a fabulous career, it’s time to part with some of the many treasures that are filling more storage units than one person should have."

Beyond The View, Whoopi Goldberg has enjoyed a decades-long career across film, television and theater, earning the coveted EGOT distinction along the way.

Adding, "I’m honored to partner with the iconic Julien’s Auction to find new homes for these special pieces, which I hope can now bring someone else as much joy as they have brought to me."

Items in the collection include her custom Christian Siriano dress from the 2008 Tony Awards and a 1999 Bob Mackie costume from the 1999 Oscars.

Movie fans could also nab a piece of history, with her Sister Act 2 blazer.
