Christie Brinkley turns heads in off-the-shoulder top and shorts, inspiring comparisons to her daughter

Christie Brinkley is ageless. The supermodel, who was one of the '70s and '80s icons, just shared a post featuring a stylish and youthful outfit. It ended up drawing comparisons to her 28 year old daughter, Sailor Lee Brinkley-Cook.

The post was recently shared on her Instagram to promote her new brand of sugar-free Prosecco. The images show Brinkley standing next to a red truck. Her outfit was all black, made up of an off-the-shoulder top that she paired with shorts accessorized with large golden buttons on the side of the pockets. 

She completed the look with a brown leather purse, with her blonde hair loose and wavy. Brinkley completed the look with golden hoop earrings. 

The photos inspired a wave of supportive comments. "Please dear lord let me age like Christie Brinkley," wrote a fan. 

"I thought you were your daughter for a second!" wrote another person. 

Brinkley has recently spoken about aging and the freedom she feels as the years pass. "I think that with age you get … freer,” she said in an interview with Social Life.

“You do what you wanna do when you wanna do it. I think that there's a freedom that comes with age that's quite wonderful. You don't really care what anybody thinks about your outfit anymore."

"You know what you like. You know what you don't like. And you don't feel like you have to put up with the stuff that you don't like anymore."

Sailor and Christie have a close relationship. Sailor is Christie's youngest child, and is one of three: Jack, 30, and Alexa, 40. She's the daughter of Peter Cook, Christie's ex-husband, whom she divorced in 2008. 

Sailor is also a model, being featured in publications like Sports Illustrated, Vogue, and more.

"Her biggest advice when it comes to being on a set would be just to be as gracious as you can. I always try and introduce myself to everyone in the room. And I always try and acknowledge everyone in the room," said Sailor to PEOPLE. "Because I mean, my job is almost pretty much the easiest."
