Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley were a part of one of the biggest teen shows of the aughts. The two starred in "The Vampire Diaries," playing Elena and Stefan, the primary romantic couple. While the two are friends now, there was a rumored feud between them that Wesley is addressing now.
In an appearance on "Call Her Daddy," Wesley accepts most of the blame. "I will take a lot of responsibility because I was a bit of a curmudgeon, grumpy, pain in the ass," he said. "I was like, 'I'm taking my acting seriously!'"
"It was me and nine other guys," Wesley said, revealing that he took a different approach to his relationship with Dobrev.
"I remember all these guys were kind of kissing her ass. I just was like, 'I'm not going to look at her. I'm not even going to acknowledge her 'cause I want to meet her in the audition. I want to meet her for the first time in the audition.' 'Cause our scene was us meeting for the first time."
"I just remember being in the audition at Warner Brothers in front of all the executives and we looked at each other and it was just this immediate chemistry," he continued. "We were these two characters and it just was magical. So regardless of us not getting along, it somehow clicked." This resulted in the two butting heads on set.
Dobrev and Wesley's relationship now
Dobrev left on the sixth season of the series, with the two improving their relationship. "You know what, Nina? You're gonna miss me one day," recalled Wesley. When the two reunited on the series finale, Wesley said that he "missed having her around."
"And to this day, she's always like, 'I remember you said to me, 'You're going to miss me one day.' And you know what? You were right.'"
A decade later, the two are now close friends and are looking for projects to work together. "I absolutely adore her," concluded Wesley.
