Matt Damon is a part of one of the year's biggest films. Over the past couple of years, he's been working on "The Odyssey," a project that he's described as the largest and most ambitious of his life. In numerous interviews, he's discussed the physical change he had to go through, including a diet that led him to being the leanest he's ever been.
He's opening up about his stunt double for one of the movie's key sequences, a woman with "the greatest arms" he's ever seen.
Damon discussed the scene at the Happy Sad Confused podcast, which shows a moment where his warriors meet a group of giants named the Lestrygonians. “When we did the force perspective stuff with the Laestrygonians… there were these stuntmen who were all seven feet, and then they got stunt men who were under five feet," he said. “My double was a woman, a female stunt performer who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen.”
“When she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I met her. I went up and hugged her and thanked her for all the work she put in.”
Damon said that while he worked out a lot, he couldn't take credit for her arms. “It was almost 100% my arms in the movie, but you got to give it up where it’s due," he said.
Damon's hard work has been praised by his co-stars
All through the promotional run of the movie, Damon has discussed the toll of losing weight and developing muscle for the film. One of his co-stars, Charlize Theron, had some great compliments for her co-worker and friend.
"I've seen him without all of that suit on. He's incredible. Incredible," said Theron in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I'm like staring at him weirdly. I'm looking at his a** right now. I shouldn't do that! That's just wrong. He looked amazing, yes," she quipped, hilariously.
