Caitlin Clark added another milestone to her already remarkable WNBA career on Sunday before giving fans a rare glimpse into her personal life just a day later. The Indiana Fever star became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 600 career assists during a dominant 109-75 victory over the Las Vegas Aces.

Hours later, Clark drew attention off the court after posting a heartfelt birthday tribute to her longtime boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, on Instagram.

Caitlin Clark Becomes Fastest Player to Reach 600 Assists

Clark reached the historic milestone in just 72 career games, making her the quickest player in league history to record 600 assists. The record-setting play came during the third quarter when Clark delivered a perfectly timed pass to Monique Billings, who converted the layup while drawing a foul. The assist officially put Clark into the WNBA record books.

Although Clark finished with a relatively modest stat line by her standards, she still made a major impact. She recorded:

  • 12 points
  • 6 assists
  • 7 rebounds
  • 5-of-11 shooting from the field

The milestone adds another accomplishment to an already historic start to her professional career. Clark entered the game averaging 20.5 points and a league-leading 7.9 assists per contest this season. She was also playing only her second game since returning from a lingering back injury.

Indiana Fever Cruise Past Las Vegas Aces

While Clark made history, the Fever received contributions throughout the lineup. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 27 points, including 20 in the first half. Her deep three-pointer at the halftime buzzer helped the Fever carry a double-digit lead into the break.

Aliyah Boston added another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Sophie Cunningham sparked the bench with 20 points after knocking down six three-pointers.

The Aces briefly threatened after opening the third quarter on a 7-0 run, but Indiana quickly answered with a dominant 17-5 stretch to put the game out of reach.

Las Vegas was led by A'ja Wilson, who finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Jackie Young chipped in 15 points, but they were the only Aces players to score in double figures.

The victory improved Indiana to 14-9 as the Fever continued their strong recent form, winning five of their last seven games.

Clark Still Chasing WNBA Assist Legends

Even after becoming the fastest player ever to 600 assists, Clark still has a long climb before reaching the league's all-time leaders. Hall of Famer Sue Bird remains the WNBA's career assist leader with 3,234 assists, making her the only player in league history to surpass the 3,000 mark.

Chicago Sky veteran Courtney Vandersloot ranks second with 2,909 career assists. Still, Clark's pace through her first 72 games suggests she could continue climbing the record books if she stays healthy.

Caitlin Clark Celebrates Connor McCaffery's Birthday

Following her historic weekend, Clark shifted the spotlight away from basketball with a touching message for boyfriend Connor McCaffery, who celebrated his 28th birthday Monday.

Clark shared a black-and-white Instagram carousel featuring several moments from their relationship, including photos from events, a golf outing, and one playful image showing McCaffery cheering from the stands while she played for the Fever, as reported by The US Sun.

Her birthday caption expressed excitement about celebrating him and looking ahead to another year together. McCaffery responded in the comments by joking that the fourth photo perfectly represented their relationship.

The post quickly attracted reactions from fans and fellow athletes. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton left a birthday message in the comments, while Fever teammate Raven Johnson also joined in with a playful response.
