Millie Bobby Brown has hit back at critics who blasted her husband, Jake Bongiovi, for not pushing their baby stroller or carrying her luggage.
The 22-year-old actress found herself at the center of a social media storm after paparazzi photos showed her managing suitcases and a stroller without help from her 24-year-old partner.
Speaking on the Not Gonna Lie podcast to host Kylie Kelce, the Stranger Things star fumed, "Hi, I’m Millie Bobby Brown, and I’m not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff? I can also do it on my own."
The young actress labelled the online backlash against Jake ridiculous, explaining that she is simply someone who likes to take charge when traveling. She said, "People are like, 'Your husband doesn’t hold a single thing.' Because I’m three miles ahead. I have been planning this all night."
"We’re all about empowering girls and, 'you got it' and 'you don’t need a man.' But then when I’m like, 'OK, I can carry my own things,' people are like, 'Where’s your husband?'"
Millie insisted she is no damsel in distress and the public do not truly know Jake - the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi- describing her man as the "most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me" partner. She added, "But he also knows I’m capable and not broken."
Millie won't be criticized as a mother
Millie also addressed the backlash she faced after becoming a mother at 21, calling out the "vicious and angry" trolls who criticized her life choices.
Defending her young family, she shared: "For everybody who was like, 'Oh my god, a 21-year-old mom. Oh my gosh, how could she?' I’m having the most amazing time. My husband and I say this all the time; it’s like going from black and white to color."
The couple, who originally tied the knot in an intimate, private ceremony in May 2024 before hosting a second stunning celebration in Tuscany, Italy, officiated by her Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine, surprised fans when they announced they had adopted a baby daughter, sharing a joint Instagram post that read, "And then there were 3. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy."
The actress first went public with her romance with the actor, model and musician back in 2021, before transitioning into their happy new era as parents.
Standing her ground against online haters has become second nature for the Hollywood starlet, who has spent a lifetime combatting ruthless internet bullies.
The Enola Holmes actress has been fiercely vocal about the unnecessary insults she has faced since childhood, admitting that the constant stream of inappropriate comments historically caused her deep "pain and insecurity."
She previously hit back at critics and media outlets on her Instagram Stories for picking apart her life, fiercely declaring, "The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices is disturbing."
Refusing to let anonymous trolls dictate her choices or her marriage, the resilient star shows no mercy when it comes to defending her loved ones.
