This weekend was the Governors Ball Music Festival, and A$AP Rocky closed out the event. With nearly 50000 people attending the festival each day, he had his biggest fan in the audience - Rihanna.
After his Sunday night performance, the power couple was spotted returning to the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City.
The "Pon de Replay" singer kept things sporty and low-key, rocking an oversized black football-style jersey, with a textured charcoal midi skirt and brown Nike sneakers with a pair of fun white sunglasses.
Rih Rih accessorized with layered gold necklaces and carried a Louis Vuitton handbag as she made her way inside.
In some photos, she was rocking a long black coat and no sunglasses. So it's likely the photos were taken on the way in and on the way out.
Earlier in the night, she and A$AP Rocky were seen spending time together at Benvenuto Café in New York City before heading to the festival.
A$AP Rocky opens up about the shooting
Their outing comes after the rapper opened up about the terrifying shooting at their home. Police arrested Ivanna Lisette Ortiz on March 8 after she fired at least 20 rounds from an AR-15 style rifle into their home and a neighbor's.
He opened up about the incident with VIBE, calling it "f**ked up." “Somebody attempted at [harming] me and my family," he said, “It took away a lot of peace and happiness of being able to just be free."
The couple shares sons RZA Athelston Mayers, Riot Rose Mayers, and their daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, and they were all at home at the time of the shooting. “I don’t want to be robbed of my peace and joy," the singer continued.
Ortiz was charged with one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.
She is currently being held on $1.875 million bail and could face life in prison if convicted. According to the Associated Press, Ortiz's attorney asked the court to lower her bail based on her financial situation, but the judge denied the request.
At first, the judge also denied the attorney's request to send the case to mental competency proceedings. Per ABC, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Shannon K. Cooley said she found that there was "not substantial evidence of incompetence."
However, a week later, at her May 19th meeting, after Deputy Public Defender Derek Dillman expressed doubts over Ortiz's mental competence, the Judge seemingly changed her mind. Judge Cooley paused the prosecution and ordered psychiatric evaluations and temporarily transferred the case to a Hollywood mental health court.
“It is the ethical obligation of counsel and the court to ensure that Ms. Ortiz’s rights are protected, including being able to assist counsel in conducting a defense in a rational manner,” Dillman told The Associated Press.
She is still being held on nearly $2M in bail and was reportedly set to appear on June 2 to determine whether she is competent to stand trial. However, there does not appear to be any news on what took place in the courtroom or if it was rescheduled.
