Britney Spears is opening up about some of the personal struggles she’s faced over the past year, sharing a candid reflection with fans about her emotions.
The pop icon recently posted a lengthy message on Instagram, which was later deleted, where she discussed dealing with what she described as “emotional issues.” The post offered a glimpse into her mindset after a challenging few months that included a DUI arrest and a stay in rehab.
According to Spears, one place seems to bring up a lot of emotions for her: the kitchen.
“I have a lot of emotional issues that come up in my kitchen,” she wrote in the lengthy text upload. “I have no idea why…I guess that’s usually where we as a family all come together to celebrate, pray and cook.”
The singer went on to explain that the kitchen has also become a space where she expresses herself creatively. She revealed that she recently spent an entire night working on an arts-and-crafts project that ended up meaning a great deal to her.
Spears recalled creating a stained-glass lamp that brought her a sense of peace and comfort. The project became one of her favorite possessions, and she proudly displayed it in her kitchen for several months. The Grammy winner said the lamp became much more than a simple craft project. It represented a source of joy during a period when she was reconnecting with herself and rediscovering simple pleasures.
“Ok I get its a f**king broken lamp with shattered glass pieces put together somehow to create light… but I found myself wanting to go to the kitchen after years of not wanting to…l was excited to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night to eat my cereal or snacks … something very demure to me and one of a kind,” she wrote.
Unfortunately, Spears said the lamp was eventually thrown away by mistake. According to the singer, a housekeeper accidentally discarded the piece, leaving her heartbroken.
Still, Spears appeared to take the setback in stride, writing that she was “used to people taking [her] things.”
Finding Comfort Through Creativity
Throughout her post, Spears also revealed that she has been spending more time focusing on creative hobbies than ever before.
The “Toxic” singer shared that she has “never done so many arts and crafts,” suggesting that artistic projects have become an important outlet for her emotions.
Her comments come after what she described as an “interesting” year, one that has included several highly publicized personal challenges.
DUI Arrest Sparked Headlines
Back in March, Spears made headlines after being arrested on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County, California.
Authorities reportedly observed the singer driving erratically before pulling her over on March 4. Video footage later released from the scene appeared to show Spears struggling during a field sobriety test.
During the encounter, Spears allegedly told officers she had consumed only one mimosa earlier in the day.
According to a police report, the singer also disclosed that she had been taking several prescription medications, including Adderall, Lamictal, and Prozac.
The incident quickly drew widespread attention, adding another chapter to a year already filled with personal ups and downs.
Rehab and a Fresh Start
Following the arrest, Spears checked herself into a rehabilitation facility in April. Sources close to the singer later said she viewed the experience as a positive step toward regaining balance in her life.
After leaving the facility later that month, insiders claimed she was in a much better place emotionally and mentally.
“She’s healthy and happy and feeling very positive and excited to start afresh,” an insider told Page Six at the time. “Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself.”
Legal matters related to the DUI case are also moving forward. Earlier this month, Spears’ attorney, Michael Goldstein, appeared in court on her behalf and accepted a “wet reckless” plea offer.
As part of the agreement, the singer is expected to complete a three-month alcohol education program and serve one year of informal probation.
Despite the challenges, sources say Spears remains optimistic about what lies ahead.
Following her release from rehab, one insider shared that the mother of two is “looking forward to a bright future.” Another source added that Spears has continued prioritizing her mental health and is “continuing counseling remotely.”
While the past year has certainly tested her, Spears’ recent reflections suggest she’s finding comfort in creativity, self-expression, and the small moments that bring her peace.
