Patrick Muldoon died from a heart attack on April 19. He was 57 years old. Known for his work in "Starship Troopers," "Days of Our Lives," and "Melrose Place," Muldoon's death has inspired tributes from his loved ones and industry colleagues, among them, his ex and fellow co-star Denise Richards. Her daughters, Lola and Sami Sheen, also took to social media to share some of their favorite and most special memories with Muldoon, showing how important he was in their lives.
Richards and Muldoon had known each other since they were teens, meeting in an acting class and going on to star in "Starship Troopers" together. The two then embarked on a romance, becoming a prominent couple in the late '90s. While they split in the year 2000, they remained best friends.
"I thought you were the one that was supposed be in our lives forever," wrote Lola Sheen in a heartbreaking post on Instagram showing an image of her mother and Muldoon inside a car.
In a lengthy tribute, Lola shared some of her favorite memories with Muldoon and thanked him for supporting Richardson throughout her life. "Thank you for being the best friend to her. thank you for being the one to make her laugh and forget about all she’s going through. that was a gift you had. The bond you two had was something so special, that no one can touch. when i think of my mom i think of you."
She also revealed that she used to "beg" her mother to get back together with Muldoon. "But i guess staying best friends was better anyways," she wrote.
Sami Sheen shared a similar tribute on her Instagram stories, calling Muldoon "someone that everyone loved."
“He was so quick-witted and humble but still made sure everyone knew he was a rock star and never cared what people thought about him,” she added. “From day 1 till the last day I saw him, he’s never changed.”
Richards and Muldoon's friendship persisted despite other relationships
In a tribute shared earlier this week, Richards shared that Muldoon was a constant in her life despite the ups and downs in their relationship. "We met in our first acting class, I was 19 never had an acting job and you were 21 a student at USC doing a recurring role on who’s the boss. And here we are. 36 years later. My whole adult life & I don’t know it without you," she wrote alongside a video tribute featuring some of their moments together.
While the two had relationships of their own and had some breaks in their friendship, with Richards sharing that she didn't speak to Muldoon while she was married to Charlie Sheen, they reconnected later, with Muldoon having a presence in her and her kids' lives.
