Lara Trump recently offered a lighthearted glimpse into the inner workings of the Trump family, sharing a mix of humor, admiration and candid anecdotes during a rapid-fire segment on Katie Miller’s podcast.
When asked to name the relative most likely to give unsolicited advice, Lara didn’t hesitate. “Maybe Ivanka,” she said, referring to her sister-in-law Ivanka Trump. “I feel like she wants to help. Like, she always means so well. But you know, it's okay. We take it all in stride. It's all good.”
The comment, delivered playfully, reflects what Lara described as a family dynamic where suggestions are constant but rarely taken too seriously, largely because they come from a place of good intentions.
Despite that teasing remark, Lara made it clear that she holds Ivanka in high regard in other areas. In fact, she singled her out as the family’s most thoughtful gift-giver. “God, and we're the worst. Eric and I are the absolute worst,” Lara admitted, referring to her husband Eric Trump.
“I mean, she remembers everything. My kids' birthdays, every single time. Don't ask me when the last time was I sent my nieces and nephews an actual birthday gift on time, because I always fail. I'm the worst," she added.
Beyond gift-giving, Lara has also previously praised Ivanka’s polished sense of style, often grouping her alongside Melania Trump as examples of elegance she admires.
While Ivanka may dominate in advice and attentiveness, Lara pointed to another family member for a different kind of distinction. Asked who is most likely to call just to check in, she chose her father-in-law, Donald Trump. “I would say my father-in-law. Yeah,” she said. “He loves a good late-night random call, early morning chit-chat.”
Those spontaneous conversations, she suggested, are a regular part of family life.
Lara also shared a recent exchange with the former president, revealing the tone of their communication. “I think it was a video that the White House put out, and it just said, 'Love, DJT.' It was like a video of some, like, bombing.” She added, “He's proud of it. It was good.”
Outside of these personal anecdotes, Lara has addressed public curiosity about another member of the family, Barron Trump. Speaking on her own podcast, she described him as someone who deliberately stays out of the spotlight despite widespread interest.
“I don't know if he knows that the internet is obsessed with him,” she said. “I think he knows that there is a lot of interest. But that's why he likes to lay low. That's why he likes to play it cool. That's why you don't see him all the time.”
At 43, Lara has been married to Eric Trump since 2014, and her role within the family has grown increasingly public in recent years. Her position contrasts with Ivanka’s current path. While Ivanka once played a prominent advisory role during her father’s presidency, she has since stepped back from politics to focus on private life in Florida.
Lara, meanwhile, has taken on a more visible political presence, serving as a leading voice for the family and within Republican circles. Despite these differences, she has consistently dismissed speculation of tension between the two women, characterizing such claims as media exaggeration and emphasizing that the family operates as a cohesive unit.
Their relationship, by Lara’s account, remains grounded in mutual respect and genuine closeness. They continue to appear together at major family events, reinforcing an image of unity even as their public roles diverge.
