Fans immediately asked if he had adopted a new pup. “Is that your new puppy, the one with the grey eye patch?" one person commented, while someone else wrote, “Aww Lewis, did you get a new Pup?"

While Hamilton has not confirmed whether he adopted one of the pups, it wouldn’t be surprising. He’s long been known for his love of dogs, particularly his late bulldog Roscoe.© Lewis Hamilton/IG

Remembering Roscoe: Hamilton’s beloved bulldog

Roscoe, Hamilton’s cherished 12-year-old bulldog, passed away in September 2025 after a courageous battle with pneumonia. The loss was deeply personal for the F1 star, who had kept fans updated throughout Roscoe’s illness.

Roscoe had first been adopted in 2013, the same year Hamilton joined Mercedes AMG F1.

“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. He never stopped fighting, right until the very end,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram.

Roscoe had often been seen by Hamilton’s side, on the podium, at races, and even starring in commercials. His popularity was such that Hamilton created an Instagram account for him, which still boasts 1.4 million followers.

This heartbreak came five years after Hamilton lost another bulldog, Coco, in 2020 to a suspected heart attack. While Coco’s passing was sorrowful, it was Roscoe’s decline that forced Hamilton into the painful decision of euthanasia for the first time.

“Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have,” he reflected. “It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet.”

“Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”

Roscoe had first been adopted in 2013, the same year Hamilton joined Mercedes AMG F1. From walking beside Hamilton on red carpets to appearing in awards ceremonies like the 2014 Sports Personality of the Year, Roscoe became a fixture in the F1 world and in fans’ hearts.

“Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together,” Hamilton said. While fans eagerly speculate about the new litter in Hamilton’s Instagram post, the seven-time champion has not revealed whether he has chosen to bring a new furry friend into his life. Given his long-standing affection for dogs, the idea seems almost inevitable.
