Marcello Hernandez addresses Sabrina Carpenter dating rumors: 'Sabrina is awesome'

Marcello Hernandez is one of "Saturday Night Live's" biggest young stars. Hernandez has rapidly become one of SNL's most notorious faces, quickly climbing the ranks and becoming one of the most notable representatives of a new generation of cast members.

One of his biggest skits is his performance as Domingo, which has taken him to perform alongside Bad Bunny, Pedro Pascal, and Sabrina Carpenter. It's a performance that became so popular that it was featured in one of Carpenter's concerts, prompting speculation about the nature of their relationship. 

In an appearance on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, Hernandez addressed the speculation that surrounds his relationship with Carpenter. 

“If I’m you, and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date her with all my might,” said Shepard of Carpenter. “Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?”

“I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale," said Hernandez, putting the rumors to rest. “But Sabrina’s awesome.”

“The Domingo thing was big. And [Carpenter] was all about it, and it was so cool,” he explained. “And the writers."

“Truly an unreal experience. And Sabrina’s really down to clown. She’s down to think of something funny. She’s an actress.”

According to US Weekly, Hernandez has been romantically linked to Ana Amelia Cabral, who accompanied him to the premiere of "Happy Gilmore 2."

The start of Hernandez and Carpenter's rumors

Following Hernandez's Domingo skit on SNL, he was one of Carpenter's celebrities up for "arrest" in one of her concerts, with the video going viral. 

In it, Hernandez wears Domingo's famous beard and is seen talking to Carpenter. "Well! You sure are gorgeous. I’m getting so flustered and overwhelmed. Is there anything you wanna say before I arrest you, Domingo?” said Carpenter.

Hernandez's skit originated in an episode hosted by Ariana Grande, where she and some castmembers acted as bridesmaids to a wedding, singing a modified version of "Espresso." The lyrics discuss the bride, who got involved in a romance with a man named Domingo while on her Bachelorette party. 

The skit has been followed up numerous times on the show, including once with Carpenter's participation during SNL's 50th anniversary. On that occasion, the skit was rounded out by Pascal and Bad Bunny, who played Domingo's hot family members.
