Keith Urban is opening up about this moment in his life. The Country singer recently split up from his long-term partner, Nicole Kidman, surprising the entertainment world. In a new snippet shared online, Urban is sharing his thoughts for the first time.
Urban shared a clip on his social media of his new reality show "The Road," which follows 12 up-and-comers in the genre who compete for a spot to open for Urban's tour in the US.
In a chat with Blake Shelton, Urban opened up about his notorious hairstyles and about the challenges of touring, a job he's been pursuing for the past 30 years. "Where do we start? It's a calling, and you're going to do it or you're not going to make it," he said.
"When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning, sick as a dog, in the middle of nowhere, and you've got to play your fifth show that night... missing your friends, your family, completely lonely and miserable... You ask yourself, 'Why am I doing this?" The only answer can be: Because this is what I'm born to do.'"
These statements are some of the first that appear to allude to the end of his relationship with Nicole Kidman, whom he was married to for 19 years. It marks his first post on social media since the divorce filing.
"You know you learn a lot when you’ve been on the road for more than a few years.... especially when it comes to your hair.. right Keith Urban???" reads the joint post, initially shared by Shelton.
Kidman filed for divorce this September, citing "irreconcilable differences."
