Katherine Schwarzenegger is sharing some of her parenting secrets. The author and mom of three is sharing a look at her marriage to Chris Pratt, and how the two have found the perfect balance when it comes to raising their children.
© Backgrid/The Grosby GroupSchwarzenegger and Pratt share three kids: Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and Ford, who turns 1 within a few days. She shared how much she and Pratt are enjoying this part of their lives, when the kids are little and growing quickly.
"We do a really good job communicating," she said in an interview with PEOPLE. "It's something that was really important to both of us from the beginning and continues to be really important to us as life gets busier and crazier, especially as you add more children into the mix."
© Michael KovacSchwarzenegger revealed that she and Pratt "balance each other out" in key ways, allowing them to show up for their kids and their family with their best efforts.
"He has a lot of strengths that I don't have, and I have certain strengths that maybe he doesn't have," she said. "We are a great team. I think it's always keeping in mind that we're a team and that we're doing our best to tackle all the different things.
"We're also very present in this beautiful season of life of having young children and getting to spend a lot of time with them. It's such a sweet time."
How the pair keeps the romance alive
© JB LacroixDespite leading busy lives as a media personality and an actor, the pair also put a lot of importance on nurturing their bond as a couple.
"When you have a couple kids that are younger it's always important to have these little micro moments throughout the day where you can connect," she said, making it clear that the dynamic between mom and dad remains one of their priorities. She also made it clear that it's important to find these special moments every day, and not simply when there's the time for them.
"I think we put so much pressure on doing date nights or couples trips, but I think just having these moments throughout the day that allow you to connect really takes the pressure off of having to plan something that's over the top. It's honestly more realistic for this phase of life," she concluded.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger have been together since 2018, when they were spotted on their first date together. The pair got married the following year, and have made their family their priority, which includes their three kids and Pratt's son Jack, which he shares with his ex-wife Anna Faris.
