Rafael Nadal and Mery Perello are enjoying some of the most special days in their lives. The couple was recently spotted out alongside their family and their two sons: 3-year-old Rafael and newborn Miguel, whom they welcomed earlier this year.
In photos shared on Nadal's Instagram, the tennis star shared a photo with his family at the restaurant Sa Punta, located in Port Verd. "Family time in Mallorca," Nadal captioned the post, which featured him at the center of the photo alongside little Rafael and his 94-year-old grandmother, Isabel.
The image shows Nadal with an arm wrapped around his son, who's seen wearing a white polo shirt and blue shorts. At the end of the photo stands Nadal's wife, Mary, who is holding on to their newborn Miguel. This marks the first public family photo that features the couple alongside their two sons and the majority of their loved ones, including Nadal's parents, Sebastian and Ana Maria, and his sister Maribel.
Miguel was born earlier this year, on August 7th, in Spain. Standing alongside Mery are other notorious members of the Nadal family, including Toni Nadal, Nadal's coach and mentor for many years, and Claudia Nadal, the daughter of the retired soccer player Miguel Angel Nadal.
Rafael Nadal has much to celebrate
While it's unknown what triggered this particular family reunion, Rafa Nadal has been celebrating many special occasions over the past months. On October 8th, Nadal and Mery's eldest son celebrated his third birthday. A couple of days later, the married pair celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary.
Nadal and Mery have been together for over two decades. While the pair have long prized privacy in their relationship, Nadal has opened up about his life and his children in recent years. "Coming home and seeing every day my son growing has kept me strong and alive and with the necessary will to keep going," said Nadal in an emotional video announcing his retirement from tennis professionally.
In a conversation with the journalist Ana Pastor, Nadal also discussed his children's future in sports, providing a surprising answer. "It pains me to say that because of everything this sport has given to me... If he wants to play tennis, I would support him a hundred percent, but if he wants to play another sport, then even better."
