Olivia Jade Giannulli has grown up in the spotlight thanks to her famous parents. But not always for the best reasons. Now all grown up, the 25-year-old has built a following on social media with a career focused on beauty and lifestyle. She's also been making headlines for her on-and-off romance with Jacob Elordi, with reports saying they called it quits a month ago. Elordi is at the top of his career and easily one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood. So when he brought her to the Frankenstein premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, fans noticed.
Who is Olivia Jade?
Olivia was born in the city of Angels in 1999. She is no stranger to Hollywood and is the daughter of actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli.
Her career in beauty and lifestyle
She started her own YouTube channel in 2014, building a brand around makeup tutorials, vlogs, hauls, fitness, and health. She has over 1.84 million subscribers with 126 videos, but hasn't been as active lately. Oilvia started partnering with brands while she was still in high school, but then, the college admissions scandal happened.
Operation Varsity Blues
In 2019, federal authorities revealed that her parents were a part of a scandal involving wealthy parents who paid officials to get their children into universities. They were accused of paying $500k in bribes to Rick Singer and Key Worldwide Foundation to designate her and her sister Isabella as athletic prospects at the University of Southern California. Neither of them was a rower, and Olivia even posed on an ergometer rowing machine, which was attached to her application, according to an indictment by the United States Government.
Her parents were arrested, and Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison, fined $150,000, and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. Mossimo was sentenced to five months in prison, fined $250,000, and ordered to complete 250 hours of community service.
Adding fuel to the fire, days before her parents were arrested in the college admissions scandal, Olivia was on YouTube giving her followers advice about applying to college. As noted by Teen Vogue, it's unclear if Olivia knew about the alleged scheme. In October 2019, USC confirmed that she and her sister were no longer enrolled at the university.
Olivia faced backlash, and brands dropped and distanced themselves from her. She eventually stepped away from social media, later addressing the controversy on Red Table Talk, where she admitted her privilege and tried to move forward.
Her comeback
After the scandal died down, Olivia was also a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2021. She finished in 8th place with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. Since then, she's been able to lean into the influencer life and has collaborated with several brands.
Her relationship with Jacob Elordi
Olivia and the Euphoria star first sparked romance rumors in late 2021, a month after his split from Kaia Gerber. Since then, their relationship has been very on-and-off. From casual sightings in Los Angeles to reports of breakups and reconciliations. Their last reported breakup was in August following her move to Paris.
