Salma Hayek has a lot to celebrate. The actress and filmmaker spent her 59th birthday by the water, enjoying herself in a gorgeous bikini while drinking some Aperol spritzes.
In a post shared on Instagram, Hayek celebrated a new year with a sweet caption. "59 trips around the sun and still dancing," she wrote. "Cheers to all of you & thank you for the love."
The photo shows her saying something to the camera as she lifts up her drink, with the sunset taking place in the background. Hayek wears a coral-colored bikini that she pairs with some sunglasses and sits on the side of a yacht, with the camera capturing the water next to her.
The post received a lot of love from her followers, with celebrities like Julianne Moore, Anthony Hopkins, Chelsea Handler, Juliette Lewis, and more sharing their congratulations and sending her positive wishes in the coming year.
Linda Evangelista, who shares a son with Hayek's husband, Francois-Henry Pinault, also shared her love in the comments, adding various balloon and heart emojis.
Hayek loves a bikini
Over the years, Hayek has become an expert in the art of the bikini photo, sharing many selfies and images boasting all kinds of stunning bikini looks. This year, she was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, one of the most iconic covers in pop culture.
“I remember when I was young, a long, long time ago, I was always excited to see the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated, and [thinking] ‘Who’s going to be in it?’ Of course, I didn’t look like a model, so it never crossed my mind that one day I would be in it,” said Hayek to the publication.
“If somebody had told me I was gonna be in it at 58, I would have sent them to the madhouse, but the world has changed, and that’s exciting."
“I could retire, but I don’t want to miss out on this time. I fought for it, you know, and I’ve been part of it, and I think it’s really remarkable that a magazine like Sports Illustrated says that it’s O.K., maybe even cool, to be past 50 and still be able to feel not just sexy, but for me, to be free and not be self-conscious of your body like you have to hide,” she concluded.
