Why Salma Hayek skipped Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding, and why her husband went solo

When Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez tied the knot in an exclusive ceremony in Venice, Italy, it was the kind of event that practically screamed "A-list." Celebrities, moguls, and billionaires descended on the floating city to celebrate the Amazon founder and his longtime partner. 

Among the high-profile guests was Billionaire businessman François-Henri Pinault, but without his superstar wife, Salma Hayek.

Naturally, the absence of the "Frida" actress had fans wondering about her whereabouts.

Pinault, the 63-year-old CEO of luxury empire Kering (Gucci, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent), boasts a net worth of $40 billion. So it made sense he'd score an invite to one of the most exclusive weddings of the year. But his red carpet-ready wife, Salma Hayek, 58, was notably MIA. The actress was radio silent on Instagram for four days, something her fans noticed immediately.

So, where was Salma Hayek during one of the biggest social events of the summer?

A Different Kind of VIP Event

While billionaires and Hollywood elite rubbed shoulders in Italy, Salma, who has been part of the Mexican elite since birth, opted for something a little more down-to-earth and way more muddy: the Glastonbury Music Festival in the UK. And she wasn't alone. The actress was spotted enjoying the iconic festival alongside her 17-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault.

Comedian Chelsea Handler, also in attendance, shared several snapshots from the weekend, including a sweet candid of Salma and Valentina soaking in the vibes together. Dressed casually and blending in with fellow festival-goers, the mother-daughter duo were clearly in their element.

Glastonbury is a magical, music-filled experience that you can only really appreciate in the moment, especially with your teen daughter by your side. 

The festival weekend came right after another significant moment in Hayek's family, the high school graduation of her stepson, Augustin James Evangelista, whom her husband shares with supermodel Linda Evangelista. Salma had been celebrating Augustin's milestone just days before the Bezos wedding.

So, after toasting one family achievement, she likely followed it up with another family-focused moment, this time with her daughter. 

No Drama Here, Just Different Plans

Despite missing the ultra lavish Bezos-Sánchez wedding, there's no bad blood here. Lauren Sánchez and Salma Hayek have shown each other public support more than once. Last month, Lauren Sánchez took to social media to praise Hayek's philanthropic efforts.

 And Hayek has returned the love over the years. These women are powerhouses and know how to cheer each other on, even from afar.
