Kim Kardashian reveals why her family isn't having their legendary Christmas Eve party

The Kardashians are known for their extravagant celebrations, especially their annual Christmas Eve party. This highly exclusive event typically features a list of famous friends and partners lucky enough to make the guest list. But, this year, the stars will have to find a new way to spend December 24th, because the famous family has decided not to hold their annual party.

Kim Kardashian, who was in New York City for the Skims store opening, caught up with Vogue and shared the news. Speaking about the Christmas tradition, Kim revealed, "We’re doing a really low-key Christmas Eve party this year," confirming that the annual event won’t take place. 

It's the second time in 46 years the party has been canceled, with the first being in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the cancellation, we can still expect to see Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner looking amazing. 

According to Page Six, Kris Jenner started the tradition back in the late 1970s, and Kim and Kourtney have continued the tradition, rotating between their California mansions. Despite the family having multiple properties, Kim cited ongoing construction as the reason for canceling this year’s party. "Just because we have a lot of construction going on, so we are doing a really family-intimate one,” she explained. 

Though the party will be smaller, she said she was "really excited" about it. The billionaire also clarified that the family will still dress up “to the nines” because “that’s what we do,” she proudly stated.

While the parties will be paused this year, Kim assured that they will return in the future. "We’ve had some legendary Christmas Eve parties, and they’re just beginning," she said. "Our kids love them, and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition."

Kim will also be saving some money too, not that she's worried about that. In 2018, People estimated that the extravagant event Kim and Kanye West hosted cost around $1.3 million, featuring a-list attendees such as Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Sia, Paris Hilton, Dave Chappelle, Kimora Lee Simmons, Tyler, the Creator, and John Legend.
