González was one of the speakers and spoke about her art and her career, including her experiences as a singer and  actress. "At an early age I was really passionate about singing," she said.

"Singing was my first love. And so it all started musically."

In recent years, González has focused primarily on acting, becoming one of the most exciting Latinas working in Hollywood. Her roster of films includes work with some of the most exciting and profitable directors in recent memory.

She revealed that while her true love is filmmaking, at first, she didn't even want to be an actress. "I had a real fascination for film," she said. "My real first obsession was 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.'"

"People don't know this about me but I really wanted to be a director more than an actress," she said, prompting a surprised sound from the panelist and the audience.

González went on to reveal that acting and performing became her way of coping with her father's tragic death, with her mother signing her up to all sorts of activities to get her out of the house and out of her head.

González's astonishing year

González has had an incredibly impressive year. She's starred in films, TV shows, and more, including "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare," "La Maquina," which co-stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, and "3 Body Problem," which earned various nominations at the Emmy Awards and has been renewed for a second season on Netflix.

It's an impressive body of work, one that shows not only that she's one of the hardest-working actors in the industry, but that she's interested in learning new skills and acquiring parts in both English and Spanish.

González discussed these films in the panel and teased some of her upcoming work, which includes the film "Ash," alongside Aaron Paul, which will be released in March of next year.
