Sofia is the youngest daughter of singer Lionel Richie and his second wife Diane Alexander. Along with Nicole, 39, she has an older brother named Miles Richie, 27.

Michael Jackson is Sofia’s grandfather and she grew close to his daughter Paris Jackson. She told Standard in 2017, ‘When we were little kids, Paris and I would be hanging out here with both of our dads.” She added that MJ was, “very soft-spoken, so sweet, my dad was really close to him. “His death ‘was heartbreaking, a terrible time for my dad,’” she explained. “I got picked up from school early. My dad and Michael had the same manager at the time. I didn’t go to school for a week.”

Sofia might be walking down the runway but there is a real possibility that she could have owned the stage just like her father. She learned to play piano by the time she was five and has an amazing voice that was strength through vocal lessons. She even wrote some of her own songs and worked in the studio with her sister‘s husband of Good Charlotte, Joel Madden. But being Lionel’s daughter came with too much pressure. “I wanted to have a music career for a long time,“ Sofia told Complex. “Music is my life and it speaks to me ... But I don’t want my own music career. I’m Lionel Richie’s daughter. When I do this I have to be 100 percent good, and it was too much pressure for me.”

Growing up in the spotlight, Sofia appreciated her privacy. When she was dating Disick she had no interest in appearing in his wife‘s family reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She told Us Weekly in 2019, “Not that I’m against it, [but] I’m just very private.”

When it comes to her love life, Sofia has moved on from Disick, Justin Bieber, and Jaden Smith, and is in a serious relationship with music executive Elliot Grainge. They began dating in early 2021 and became IG official that year in March. They purchased a Beverly Hills mansion together for $17 million this year and after months of renovation, they are finally ready to move in, per The Dirt.

Richie shared a photo of Sofia from her soccer days with the hilarious caption, “I’m not sure I taught you anything about soccer… but let’s just say I did.” Sofia competed on an elite soccer team until the age of 16 when he brokers her hip in a Segway accident, per The List. Thankfully her modeling career was already underway.

Sofia landed her first modeling debut in Teen Vogue at the age of 14. She had landed her first modeling contract with the swimwear company Mary Grace Swim the following year when she was 15.
