One Day At a Time is getting an animated makeover. While the filming of the Latinx show was postponed in March amid the coronavirus pandemic, the show is returning to our small screen this spring with an all-animated episode. “As we all know, it’s hard to keep One Day at a Time off the air. During this unprecedented time, we wanted to find a way to keep our family – on camera and behind the scenes – together and create more entertaining content for our fans who are self-distancing at home. This animated special gives us an exciting opportunity to imagine the Alvarez family in a colorful new way while continuing to tell important and relevant stories,” said the show’s executive producer and co-show runner Gloria Calderón Kellett.

Celebrity chef José Andrés continues to prove that not all heroes wear capes. Andrés and his charity, World Central Kitchen, distributed 25,000 meal at Oriole Park in Baltimore with the help of Mayor Jack Young and some volunteers. The celebrity chef took to Twitter to announce that he will be returning every Saturday and Wednesday and Friday at schools.

 

Was your graduation ceremony canceled due to COVID-19? Well, John Krasinski wants to help you celebrate the special day. The Office actor will be hosting a virtual graduation ceremony for student who are unable to walk across the stage. The event will take place on his Some Good News digital show with Krasinski celebration this major milestone for students of all ages. “Alright, that’s it, enough is enough. All you graduates of 2020? After all those long hours you’ve put in. All the hard work you’ve put in.... we’re throwin some caps!!! This week! I’m there with tassels on,” the star wrote.

The Class of 2020 is missing out on their official ceremony, but seniors will at least be having the most star-studded graduation of all time. Facebook is organizing a livestream event on May 15 at 2pm Eastern for this year’s graduates, with a commencement speech by Oprah Winfrey, a performance by Miley Cyrus and appearances by Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X, Awkwafina and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.

The gospel world is morning the loss of singer Troy Sneed, who died of complications from the coronavirus at the age of 52. The Grammy-nominated artist, who appeared with the choir in Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington’s 1996 film The Preacher’s Wife, died in a Jacksonville, Florida hospital on Monday.

Prince William and Prince Harry have received some sad news. Our sister brand HELLO! reports that a soldier who served in the same military regiment as the royal brothers, 36-year-old Ryan Cartwright, has died from COVID-19. The truck driver, who leaves behind partner Amy Potts and a young daughter, served in the Blues and Royals cavalry regiment for four years.

Venom star Riz Ahmed has revealed he has lost two family members to COVID-19. “I just want to believe their deaths and all the others aren’t for nothing,” the actor said in an interview with British GQ. “We gotta step up to reimagine a better future.”
