King Charles III is reportedly extending another olive branch to Prince Harry, offering him a place to stay at Buckingham Palace during his next visit to the United Kingdom in September.

According to The Sun, the invitation comes after an earlier disagreement over accommodation during the Duke of Sussex's July trip, when conflicting accounts from Harry's team and Buckingham Palace turned what was expected to be a private family arrangement into a public dispute.

The reported invitation follows the father and son's recent private reunion at Highgrove House.

If accepted, the reported offer would allow Harry to stay at the royal residence while attending the annual WellChild Awards, the charity he has supported as patron for many years.

The invitation also follows the father-and-son's recent private reunion at Highgrove House, where King Charles reportedly spent time not only with Prince Harry but also with Meghan Markle and his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The gathering marked the King's first meeting with the California-based children since 2022, according to the report.

A reported fresh start after the July accommodation dispute:

During Harry's previous five-day visit to Britain in July, King Charles had reportedly offered accommodation at a royal residence.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to make several trips to the U.K. over the next year, including for the 2027 Invictus Games.

However, Harry is said to have delayed confirming the arrangement while trying to finalize his private security plans following the loss of his taxpayer-funded police protection.

By the time he attempted to accept the invitation, palace officials reportedly informed him that the deadline had passed because staffing and logistical preparations for Buckingham Palace, which continues to undergo renovations, could no longer be arranged.

The differing accounts quickly became public. Harry's representatives described the situation as disappointing and suggested the offer had effectively been withdrawn, while palace sources maintained that the Duke simply missed the required deadline.

According to The Sun, both sides are now hoping to avoid a repeat of that episode, with Harry expected to confirm any accommodation plans well in advance of his September trip.

Harry, Meghan and their children stayed at Althorp House, Princess Diana's childhood home and final resting place. Hosted by Harry's uncle, Charles Spencer, the visit gave Archie and Lilibet a chance to connect with their late grandmother's legacy, with Meghan later sharing rare family photos from the estate on Instagram.

More opportunities for family reunions:

Royal commentators have viewed the reported invitation as another gradual step toward improving relations between father and son following years of tension.

The reported accommodation offer comes weeks after differing accounts emerged over Harry's lodging during his July visit.

Harry is expected to return to Britain in September for the WellChild Awards, and another official visit is already on the horizon. The Duke is scheduled to be back in the U.K. in the summer of 2027 to attend the Invictus Games in Birmingham.

The report also claims Harry hopes to make more private visits in the future, provided security and logistical arrangements can be resolved. Such trips could allow Archie and Lilibet to spend more time with their grandfather as the family continues to rebuild their relationship.
