The former Prince Andrew has been arrested in relation to his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. On February 19th, a team of police officers arrived at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where Andrew has been staying after he was asked to move out of his Royal Lodge home. The arrest took place on his 66th birthday.

The news was broken by the BBC, with the outlet revealing that Andrew's arrest was made on suspicion of misconduct in public office, with allegations claiming that he shared confidential information with Epstein while he served as a trade envoy for the UK.

Andrew has denied these and other claims connecting him with Epstein.

Police in the UK didn't name Andrew, but media outlets were able to connect the dots. "As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk," said the Thames Valley police. "The man remains in police custody at this time."

Andrew's arrest follows a statement from Thames Valley police, confirming that he was being investigated for the "suspected misconduct in public office and breach of official secrets," as reported by the BBC. The complaint was first delivered by Republic, an anti-monarchy group that has been advocating for the replacement of the monarchy in the UK for years.

The group claims that the emails exchanged between Andrew and Epstein showed that confidential information was exchanged between the parties when Andrew served as the UK's special representative for international trade and investment. He held this post from 2001 to 2011.

These emails were released earlier this year, but they're not the first to connect Andrew and Epstein. In 2019, Andrew stepped back from his role as a working royal after discussing his relationship with Epstein in a video interview with the BBC. He also addressed the allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, who filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him.

He denied the allegations and reached a settlement with Giuffre in 2022.

In 2025, King Charles stripped his brother of his royal titles and honors, marking one of the most notorious public denunciations made by a royal family. Earlier this year, it was announced that he would be moving out of his residence in Windsor.
