Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg's baby bump was on display as she stepped out for the abdication of her father Grand Duke Henri and her oldest brother Prince Guillaume's accession to the throne.
The 34-year-old Princess, who looked elegant wearing a white coat, pearl drop earrings and her hair styled in an updo, was joined by her husband Nicolas Bagory for the historic occasion on Oct. 3.
Alexandra is former Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's only daughter and fourth child. The Princess and her siblings, Prince Sébastien, Prince Félix and Prince Louis, all gathered for Friday's abdication ceremony and appeared on the balcony of the Grand Ducal Palace. The Netherlands' King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Princess Catharina-Amalia and Belgium's King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth were also present.
Alexandra's father announced his plan to abdicate in favor of his son Prince Guillaume during his 2024 Christmas speech. In his remarks, Henri said, "For most of my generation, the time has now come to retire. It's a natural process that has its raison d'être. This also applies to me. On our last National Day, I announced the appointment of Prince Guillaume as Lieutenant-Représentant. Today, the Grand Duchess and I are pleased to share with you that Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie will succeed us on October the 3rd, 2025. I know that they will do their utmost to contribute to the well-being of our country."
Alexandra and Nicolas' baby will be Henri and Maria-Teresa's ninth grandchild. It was revealed in May that the Princess is expecting her second child. "Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess are delighted to announce that Princess Alexandra and Mr. Nicolas Bagory are expecting their second child," the Grand Ducal Court said, translated to English. "The birth is expected in the fall. The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess and members of both families join in the joy of their children."
Alexandra and Nicolas became first-time parents in May of 2024 with the birth of their daughter Victoire. The baby was born less than a month after her parents' first wedding anniversary.
