The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly enjoyed a recent magical outing with their children in Windsor. According to the Daily Mail, Catherine, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, visited the set of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter television series on Friday.
The outlet reported that the royals met the young actor, Dominic McLaughlin, who is playing Harry in the show and watched some scenes be filmed. Prince Louis also reportedly hopped on the Hogwarts Express for a short ride.
A source on set told The Mail on Sunday: "It was so special, Kate and the children met the young actors and the director on the set. There was only one night of filming there so it really was a magical ticket."
The source added, "And as for Louis, he got the chance to ride on the train with the driver. He seemed to absolutely love it. It's the dream for most children to step aboard the Hogwarts Express."
Per the Daily Mail, Prince William and Catherine took their children to the set in Windsor earlier in the week and it's understood that they were then invited to return on Friday to watch live filming.
HBO's original Harry Potter series, written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, is described as "a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling." The young royals are said to be "huge fans of the Harry Potter movies."
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla once said in an episode of The Queen's Reading Room Podcast that what she "enjoyed reading more than anything else" to her grandchildren was Harry Potter. Her Majesty has also previously revealed that her husband King Charles reads Harry Potter to her grandkids. “He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him,” the Queen said in 2018's Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70 (via PEOPLE). “He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that.”
HBO announced in July that production on the Harry Potter TV series, which is scheduled to debut in 2027, had commenced at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, UK. Prince William and Catherine, along with Prince Harry, attended the inauguration of the studio back in 2013.
In his remarks at the inauguration, the Prince of Wales said, "The journey to today began most obviously with the now legendary story of an aspiring author J K Rowling translating her phenomenal imagination onto paper in the form of the Harry Potter series. But in another sense, the journey to today began way before, since this country has a long and proud literary and visual arts history a history that is unmatched in the world for its variety, its commercial success and its longevity."
