Infanta Sofía stuns in tie-dye Zara dress at summer royal event

Infanta Sofía is growing up, and her royal duties are starting to carry more weight. After turning 18 on April 29, she’s been taking on more public responsibilities. She made her debut as a solo performer at an awards ceremony for a photography prize that bears her name back in December. She also stood out at the Princess of Girona Awards, where she showed off her own personal style while appearing alongside her family.

Now, like her sister Princess Leonor before her, she’s made her debut at the traditional reception for Balearic Islands authorities and local representatives, held at the Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca. It was a milestone evening that, as usual, featured King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and Queen Sofía.

A bold fashion move: Sofía wears Zara

While Princess Leonor chose to wear a dress previously worn by their mother and Queen Letizia embraced a summery Ibizan look, Infanta Sofía opted for something different. She wore a tie-dye-style dress in various shades of pink—a bold and trendy pick. The satin-finish dress, made from recycled plastic fibers, features a round neckline and comes from Zara, one of her go-to brands. It originally retailed for around $43 but was later marked down to just $11.

For footwear, she recycled her beige Saura espadrilles by Macarena Shoes (originally $86, now $78). She’s been wearing those same espadrilles with her summer looks since 2021.

Her Earlier Look in Palma This Summer

Before this landmark evening, Sofía had already been seen in Palma during the family’s summer vacation in Mallorca. On July 31, she stepped out with her mother and sister for a casual cinema outing at the Rívoli Aficine theaters to see En un lugar de la mente, a documentary written by José Corbacho and Catalina Solivellas.

For that relaxed plan, she wore a sleek black sleeveless dress from Mango (about $25), featuring a cinched waist, round neckline, open back, midi length, and eyelet details along the hem. She paired it with black strappy sandals. True to her understated style, she wore no earrings, and although she recently brought back her mother’s Coreterno ring, she skipped it for this occasion too.
