Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia of Sweden made an appearance on her grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf's birthday. Members of the Swedish royal family gathered at the Royal Palace in Stockholm on Wednesday to celebrate His Majesty, who turned 79 on April 30. Among them was the family's newest addition: Princess Ines.
Princess Sofia held her and Prince Carl Philip's two-month-old daughter, who wore a white bonnet, as the family appeared on a balcony. Two of the Prince Couple's sons, Prince Alexander, 9, and Prince Gabriel, 7, were also present. Noticeably missing was Sofia and Carl Philip's youngest son, Prince Julian, 4. At one point, big brother Alexander was pictured proudly looking at his baby sister.
Sofia and Carl Philip welcomed their fourth child on Feb. 7, 2025 at Stockholm's Danderyd Hospital. "We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter into the world," the Prince said after Ines' birth (translated to English). "The big brothers are now looking forward to getting to know their new little sister."
Days after the little Princess' arrival, the Prince Couple shared a heartwarming photo of their newborn daughter surrounded by her three older brothers. "It was a perfect little quartet♥️," the picture was captioned (translated to English). "A big and warm thank you for all the nice congratulations to our little Ines💕."
The royal baby, who is eighth in line to the throne, is set to be baptized on her parents' 10th wedding anniversary in June. Months after announcing that she was expecting her fourth child, Sofia told Vogue Scandinavia that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." She revealed, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," Sofia continued. "But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
In addition to the Prince Couple and three of their children, the Swedish King's birthday celebration on Wednesday was attended by Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O'Neill, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne.
