Infanta Sofia has checked off a royal first! Queen Letizia and King Felipe of Spain's younger daughter carried out her first solo engagement on Dec. 13. The 17 year old attended the first edition of the “Objetivo Patrimonio Concurso de Fotografía Infanta Sofía” awards.

Sofia presented awards at the event, organized by the Patrimonio Nacional, at the Royal Collections Gallery in Madrid. The King and Queen's daughter looked business chic for the occasion dressed in a white double-breasted blazer and matching trousers. According to Casa de S.M. el Rey, the Patrimonio Nacional launched the competition, aiming to promote the palaces, monasteries, museums and natural spaces that it manages.

Sofia undertook her first solo engagement at an older age than her big sister, Princess Leonor. The Princess of Asturias was 15 when she paid a solo visit to the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes in honor of the institute’s 30th anniversary back in 2021. While Leonor and her younger sister have previously teamed up for joint engagements sans their parents, last Friday marked Sofia's first one on her own.

Sofia is Queen Letizia and King Felipe's second child. The teen currently studies at UWC Atlantic in Wales. Sofia began her first year at the school in 2023 and is set to graduate in 2025. Her December break from the school started on Dec. 11 and ends Jan. 6, 2025.

Leonor graduated from the same school in May of 2023. The future Queen of Spain is now in her second year of military training. Leonor began her three-year military training last August at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza. This past August, the 19 year old arrived at the Naval Military Academy of Marín. After completing her naval training, Leonor will finish her military training “in the Air and Space Army, joining the San Javier General Air Academy for the 2025-2026 academic year as Ensign Student.”
