On September 7th, 2025, the Full Corn Moon will rise in the night sky, bringing a very special glow, as summer turns into autumn. This year’s moon is extra special because it will be accompanied by a total lunar eclipse that will paint the moon a copper-red for over an hour.

This is a period of completion, gratitude, and reflection, as we prepare for the season ahead. Here’s what to know about when to see the Corn Moon, its meaning, what makes it so special, and how you can connect to its energy.

When are the moon phases for September 2025?

  • Full Moon (Corn Moon): 7 September at 1:08 p.m. EDT
  • Last (Third) Quarter:  14 September at 5:32 a.m. EDT
  • New Moon: 21 September at 2:54 p.m. EDT
  • First Quarter: 29 September at 6:53 p.m. EDT

Why is it called the Corn Moon?

It is called this as it refers to the time when corn, a vital crop, was traditionally harvested. Normally, the September full moon is called the Harvest Moon, but this year that will be in October, as the Harvest Moon is always the one closest to the autumn equinox. This makes this Corn Moon unique because we do not often have a September full moon with this name.

Lunar EclipseThis Corn Moon will also line up with a total lunar eclipse, turning the moon a copper-red for around 82 minutes. Unfortunately those in North America won’t be able to see the eclipse but it will be visible in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Western Australia. That makes this full moon feel extra special.

What sign is it in?

This moon is in Pisces, which is a sign of intuition, compassion, and emotional wisdom and if we want to tap into this energy we can create rituals that will help us listen to ourselves, honor our emotions, and connect to our intuition.

How to connect to this moon?

Many spiritual traditions see this moon as an opportunity for introspection as it comes when we are experiencing a change in season. This is a time to pause, reflect, and release what no longer serves you, as well as celebrate your achievements from the year so far.

To connect you can do any of the following things:

  • Create your own altar of abundance: Gather seasonal items like corn, apples, or candles to symbolize gratitude and harvest.
  • Meditate: You can use guided meditations on Spotify or YouTube to get you started

Journal Prompts to Reflect this Full Moon

If you are going to journal and use this Full Corn Moon as a chance for reflection, here are some ideas for journaling to get you started:

  • What am I ready to release as I move into autumn?
  • Who or what do I need to forgive to lighten my emotional load?
  • What’s been weighing me down that I’m ready to let go of?
  • What excites me about the rest of the year?

Remember, as the Full Corn Moon of September 2025 lights up the sky, it offers more than just a beautiful sight, it’s an invitation to slow down, let go of what no longer serves you, and embrace the abundance that lies ahead.
