Are you looking for a new way to focus and relax? Meditation has many different forms, and sound baths are an innovative approach with multiple benefits, which help put the body and mind in a relaxing state.

This healing therapy is popular in Los Angeles but has been around for centuries, making an impact on stress and anxiety by putting the mind in a deeper brainwave with the use of sound frequencies.

Benefits of sound baths:

The frequencies produced by the instruments in the therapeutic session impact our body's energy centers and have benefits on our nervous system, when it comes to dealing with stress and anxiety.

There are benefits in emotional exploration and release, as the sound waves help to explore past traumas and unprocessed emotions. Apart from mental health, the body benefits by stimulating circulation and enhancing immune response.

For people who suffer from sleep disorders, sound baths help to manage insomnia with the help of sound waves, putting the body in a better state to sleep.

How does it work?

“It’s an integrative healing technique that uses vibrational instruments to induce relaxation and potentially other pleasurable feelings,” Tamara Goldsby, a research psychologist in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego, told TODAY.

“The most common instruments that are used are called singing bowls and those are either metal or a composite of seven metal alloys or crystal quartz and those produce a very unique type of sound.”

Why do they work?

“The brain has different states, depending on the levels of relations and concentration. So we believe that it’s taking people into a deeper brainwave state and people who are experienced meditators are able to do this on their own,” Goldsby said to the publication. “The advantage to sound baths is that you don’t have to learn anything to experience the benefits.”
