Aymée Nuviola has spent her career carrying Cuban music into rooms where it can meet something new. In 2026, that room is Ronnie Scott’s, the legendary London jazz club whose history includes performances by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Miles Davis and countless others.

Last summer, Nuviola released Aymée Nuviola Feat. Kemuel Roig Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, recorded with Cuban pianist Kemuel Roig over two nights at the legendary London venue. Together, they gave songs like “Obsesión” and “Perfidia” a more intimate, acoustic sound while keeping their Cuban roots at the heart of the music. It was also a special first for Nuviola: she became the first Cuban female soloist to release a complete, internationally distributed live album recorded at Ronnie Scott’s.

It is a fitting chapter for an artist whose music has always moved easily between traditions. Born in Havana, Nuviola began performing professionally at a young age and became one of the early female voices associated with timba. Her career eventually carried her far beyond Cuba, through salsa, jazz, son and tropical music, earning her a Grammy for A Journey Through Cuban Music and Latin Grammy recognition along the way. She also introduced another generation to one of Cuba’s most recognizable voices when she portrayed Celia Cruz in the television series Celia.

The past two years have shown that Nuviola is still finding different ways to work with that musical inheritance. In August 2025, she joined Puerto Rican percussionist and producer Pete Perignon for Caché, an album built around the musical conversation between Cuba and Puerto Rico. She ended the year performing on CBS and the Recording Academy’s A GRAMMY Celebration of Latin Music, alongside artists including Gloria Estefan, Carín León, Luis Fonsi and Laura Pausini.

Aymée Nuviola performed iconic Celia Cruz songs to celebrate 100 years of the Cuban legend.

Her 2026 live album takes that story across the Atlantic. And on October 11th, Nuviola is bringing it to another major European stage when she performs at Madrid’s Puerta del Sol as part of Hispanidad 2026, a citywide celebration featuring artists from across the Spanish-speaking world.

More than four decades after she began singing, Nuviola remains deeply connected to the music that raised her without allowing it to stand still. From Havana to Miami, London and now Madrid, she keeps finding new rooms for Cuban music, and making sure her voice is heard inside them.
