The world of rap music is currently experiencing a surge of emerging artists determined to make their mark in the industry, and among them is Ice Spice, a rapper from the Bronx who, despite starting her career in 2021, has already captured the hearts of many music enthusiasts with her catchy melodies and has quickly become a recognized name in the scene.

Isis Naija Gaston was born on January 1, 2000, and is the eldest of five siblings. She has inherited the rich musical legacy of her parents. Her father is African American and used to be an underground rapper, while her mother is from the Dominican Republic.

During her time at the State University of New York, Ice Spice crossed paths with the music producer RiotUSA, and shortly after, she released the song “Bully Freestyle.” After participating in the virtual challenge “Buss It,” her musical talent became famous when her performance went viral on Twitter. Her song “Name of Love,” available on SoundCloud, became very popular and became an internet sensation on Instagram. Success continued with “Munch (Feelin‘ U),” which caught the attention of none other than Drake.

He featured her music on his Sirius XM radio station, Sound 42, which made the song go viral on Twitter and TikTok, eventually reaching the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop and Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts.

Her meteoric rise in the industry earned her the title of “the new princess of rap,” recognizing her rising star status.

In February 2023, Ice Spice collaborated with Lil Tjay to release the tribute single “Gangsta Boo,” which debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, she released a remix of PinkPantheress’s song “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” and “Princess Diana” featuring Nicki Minaj, which reached the fourth spot on the charts and became her second top-ten hit.

This star’s achievements didn’t stop there

In May 2023, it was announced that she would be featured on Taylor Swift’s song “Karma,” released as part of Swift’s tenth studio album, “Midnights.” Ice Spice’s remarkable talent has captivated audiences and paved her way to success in the competitive world of rap. Her unique style and powerful presence make her an artist to watch closely as she advances in her music industry career.
