Born in Canada with Colombian roots, she’s making waves with her second studio album, “YESSIE,” firmly establishing herself as a rising star in R&B and soul genres. Adding to her achievements, Jessie recently delivered a mesmerizing performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, gracing the stage at Sol Blume in Sacramento, California. She also had the honor of being the special guest on Sam Smith’s “GLORIA the Tour” shows.
What began as a hobby transformed into her passion. Now she’s opening for Sam Smith and collaborating with Dua Lipa.
In 2016, after extensive hard work, Jessie experienced a breakthrough with the tracks “Shutter Island” and “Figures.” The latter propelled the young artist onto the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 Hits list. “Figures” appeared to be her lucky charm, triggering a cascade of awards and nominations. In 2017, she graced the iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards, winning recognition as the Best Canadian Breakthrough Artist and for having the Fans‘ Favorite Video (“Shutter Island”). 2018 marked the release of her second EP, “Being Human in Public,” which saw Jessie’s career ascending even higher. At the 2019 Juno Awards, she dominated the R&B/Soul Recording category. That same year, her first GRAMMY Awards nomination arrived, contending for Best Contemporary Urban Album alongside Lizzo.
Both of her studio albums, “Before love came to kill us” and “YESSIE,” have been met with an outstanding reception from her fans as well as colleagues within the industry. Her voice, her lyrics, and everything that defines her have led to collaborations with iconic figures like Beyoncé – yes, the renowned ‘Queen B’ herself – in addition to other notable personalities including Sam Smith, Calvin Harris, Karol G, Eminem, Lewis Capaldi, and Lil Wayne.
But that’s not all, as the 32-year-old singer is also one of the masterminds behind “One Kiss,” yes, the track by Dua Lipa released in 2018. The hit that soared on popularity charts like the Billboard Hot 100 was a creation involving Dua Lipa, Adam Richard Wiles, and our Latina Powerhouse, Jessie Reyez.
