Lele Pons, full name, Eleonora Pons Maronese, was born June 25, 1996, to her mother Anna, who graduated from medical school, and her father Luis, an architect. She was born in Venezuela and moved to the U.S when she was five years old and has since taken the world by storm after rising to prominence on the internet.
The singer, actress, and comedian first had her start on Vine before the app shut down. She moved on to YouTube creating comedy sketches, and the funny star was included on Time magazine’s list of the 30 Most Influential People on the Internet, in 2016. In an interview with TV Insider, Pons revealed that she never saw social media as a job.
“I just really loved creating fun videos just, you know, for me, right? Back in the day, it wasn’t a thing to be a “social media” star. It wasn’t like, “I wanna be a social media star” because that didn’t exist. I feel like we opened that door for many people. But it was just for fun because I love doing it…and that’s maybe why I haven’t quit doing it. Because I love it”
Lele proved her range of talent, co-authoring a novel called Surviving “High School” in 2016. That same year she starred as Callie in the 2016 romantic comedy, “We Love You”, released on YouTube Red. Aside from acting, she also had success in modeling, walking in a Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, in 2017.
Everything got bigger for Pons when she got into music, releasing her debut single “Dicen” with Matt Hunter in 2018, which gained 10 million views in just four days. That same year in August she released the single and music video “Celoso” which was certified 3× Platinum and earned a nomination for the Premios Lo Nuestro. To date, it has over 370 million views. In 2019 her success won her the “Triple Threat” award at Premios Juventud.
Music has also led Lele to find love. After releasing “Se Te Nota”, in September 2020 with Guaynaa, the singers revealed that they started dating. It proved to be another successful hit, with the music video earning over 396 million views at the time of this publication. The couple has since moved in together.
When it comes to followings, Lele has millions on every platform. She has 17.8 million YouTube subscribers, 27.2 million followers on TikTok, and 49 million followers on Instagram. She has stayed true to her comedic ways, uploading hilarious sketches on TikTok and Instagram that gain millions of views every time.
