Actress Anya Taylor-Joy has made a name for herself with roles in the widely popular Netflix show, ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and the period horror film ‘The Witch.’ Taylor-Joy’s story began in April 1996 in Miami, Florida. While Argentine runs through her blood on both sides, her father is also of English and Scottish ancestry and her mother is of English ancestry.
The 25-year-old originally made her TV debut in the 2012 drama show, ‘Endeavour’ and then acted in the 2015 fantasy-adventure series, ‘Atlantis.’ It wasn’t until the period horror film ‘The Witch’ that Taylor-Joy had a breakthrough role and was widely praised by critics for her acting chops in the film. The film earned her the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor and the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer.

From there, Taylor-Joy went on to land roles in more films, including M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Split,’ and the 2020 film ‘Emma.’ It wasn’t until late 2020 when Netflix premiered the miniseries, ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ which caused the 25-year-old to become a household name. Her role in the show garnered her wins at the 2021 Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. That same year, she was named “Breakthrough Entertainer” of the Year by the Associated Press and ”Breakout Star of 2020” by the New York Post.

In regards to Taylor-Joy’s love life, it’s rumored that she is dating musician and actor Malcolm McRae. The actress has yet confirmed the news but pictures emerged of the young couple packing on the PDA in a recent outing.
Next on Taylor-Joy’s agenda is starring in the new Edgar Wright’s psychological horror film Last Night in Soho, which is set to premiere later this fall.
