Bad Bunny is back in his acting bag, this time, making his debut as a voice actor. The Puerto Rican superstar has been building one of the most unexpected acting careers in entertainment, and his latest role might be his most full-circle project yet.

The singer turned actor is officially entering the world of Toy Story after Disney announced he will lend his voice in Toy Story 5 as a character called “Pizza with Sunglasses,” a toy described as “effortlessly cool and mysterious” who lives inside an abandoned backyard shed alongside a group of forgotten toys.

The role may only be a voice cameo, but for longtime fans of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the casting actually makes perfect sense.

As noted by Billboard, long before Bad Bunny was selling out stadiums around the world or headlining massive festivals, he was already making homemade Toy Story-inspired videos during the COVID-19 lockdown back in 2020.

At the time, the artist entertained fans online using his own toy collection to create mini skits and voicing every character himself in exaggerated comedic voices.

The videos quickly went viral among fans, partly because people weren’t used to seeing one of the world’s biggest music stars fully commit to chaotic toy impersonations from his living room.

Now, years later, that random internet era feels like a manifestation. Landing inside the Pixar universe is simply the newest addition to a film résumé that has been growing a lot faster than people expected.

Plenty of artists test out acting once or twice, but Benito has been approaching Hollywood more like a long-term career move.

He made his feature film debut opposite Brad Pitt in 2022’s Bullet Train, later appeared in Cassandro alongside Gael García Bernal, and recently expanded his acting credits even further with roles in Caught Stealing and Happy Gilmore 2.

He’s also preparing for his first true leading role alongside Javier Bardem, in Porto Rico, an upcoming historical drama directed by Residente that explores Puerto Rican revolutionary history.

And despite his superstar status, Bad Bunny has been very honest about how intimidating stepping into Hollywood can feel. Ahead of Caught Stealing, he admitted feeling pressure while working alongside experienced actors. “I could say that I was a little nervous, because I have to show what I can do,” he shared in an interview with Willie Geist. “All people in this room are huge actors. I have to do my best to be at their level.”

That vulnerability has become part of what makes his acting transition interesting to watch. Instead of pretending that acting comes naturally, Benito openly talks about learning in real time.

He’s also made it clear this isn’t some random celebrity side quest either. “Since I was a kid, I really liked acting, and it was part of one of my dreams,” he explained while discussing his future in film.

Even his Bullet Train experience sounded almost surreal to him. Speaking about working alongside Brad Pitt, Bad Bunny described the set experience as “a fantasy,” saying the actor even offered him advice while filming.

Of course, not every Hollywood movie has worked out perfectly. Fans still remember when Marvel announced Bad Bunny would become the first Latino lead of a solo live-action Marvel film with El Muerto, only for the project to later disappear from the studio’s release schedule entirely.

Benito later admitted the situation was “delicate” before his team confirmed the film was no longer happening.

Still, if anything, his acting career seems to be evolving into something more interesting than the typical pop-star crossover. He’s gone from action movies to sports comedies, historical dramas, and now animated Pixar characters wearing sunglasses.
