There have been rumors that Sydney Sweeney might be the next Bond girl, but the 27-year-old seems to be playing coy about the whole thing. The Euphoria star is reportedly at the top of the list for the next James Bond film, which is now under the joint venture of Amazon and MGM Studios, making her growing connection to Jeff Bezos even stronger.

When asked about the rumors by Variety, Sweeney reportedly responded, “I can’t,” before pausing for seconds. “I don’t know," she continued, pausing for another 10 seconds. "To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the franchise, and I’m excited and curious to see what they do with it," she added.

When pushed a little more about it and asked if she would be interested, she responded, "Depends on the script," adding, "I think I’d have more fun as James Bond.” While there was some discussion about whether a woman could play James Bond, it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

Now, for how Jeff ties in to the whole thing. The billionaire has reportedly been pushing for her to fill the Bond girl role.  But it's not just Jeff; an insider told The Mail that director Denis Villeneuve is also on board with Sweeney, reportedly admiring her “athleticism, charm, and appeal to younger audiences," which is "key to modernizing the franchise.”

The Sweeney-Bezos puzzle pieces seem to go all the way back to March, when Sweeney signed on to Split Fiction, a fantasy-sci-fi video game adaptation directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and written by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Amazon MGM picked up the project in June, and shortly after the deal closed, Sweeney was a guest at Jeff and Sánchez’s wedding, which turned heads because she wasn't believed to be friends with either of them. A source told DailyMail that she isn’t close with the couple, but went “to pay respect to the boss,” as was done "in the old days of Hollywood."

Then in July, Us Weekly confirmed Sweeney’s been secretly working on her own lingerie line. The outlet reported that Jeff and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, "invested" in the venture.

According to Puck, the line is backed by Ben Schwerin, a partner at the private equity firm Coatue, which received a $1 billion investment from Bezos and Michael Dell through their Coatue Innovation Fund.

Most recently, in September, Lauren was a guest at Sweeney's space-themed birthday celebration. If that all sounds coincidental, it’s probably not.
