Jason Momoa is ready to get back on set as one of his favorite comic book characters, and he basically manifested the part. News broke on Monday, December 30, that Warner Bros and DC’s Aquaman star was cast to play Lobo in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Momoa, who is happy and in love with Adria Arjona, has been vocal about his desire to play the anti-hero and intergalactic bounty hunter. The actor confirmed the news on Instagram with a screenshot from an interview with Fandango in 2023. “So Lobo was... I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but it was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” he wrote.

"I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it's a f**k yeah. I haven't received that call, so I don't want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I'm there," Momoa continued.

"They called,"  he wrote in the caption, with Gunn commenting, "Welcome, my friend."

Who is Lobo?

Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, Lobo was first introduced in Omega Men #3 in June 1983.

Once you see what the alien from Czarnia looks like, you can imagine Momoa transforming easily. Lobo is known for his superhuman strength, regeneration, and durability, and he wields a chain with a hook as his weapon of choice. Shakira fans and Spanish speakers will recognize that his name is derived from the word wolf, reflecting his brutal and predatory nature.

What’s next for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’?

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set for release in 2026. According to IMDb, only four actors are listed in the credits for now: Momoa as Lobo, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.
