Private conversations in the locker room are now things of the past with the new weekly show Locker Room Talk (LRT). Hosted by Julie Alexandria and Jennifer Mercedes, LRT will highlight the achievements of women and Latinas in sports.
According to La Vida Baseball, a platform bringing the latest news on Latinx MLB players and their lives off the field, both hosts have more than 20 years of sports industry reporting experience. In Locker Room Talk, they will continue the conversation by turning the spotlight to women in all aspects of the sports world and recognizing their contributions while sharing how they overcome barriers.

The show will debut its first episode on Wednesday, August 4, on YouTube and Facebook. “Locker Room Talk is my way of giving back and creating space for the next generation of women who are looking to enter the world of sports broadcasting and business,” said Julie Alexandria.
According to Jennifer, LRT is the epitome of Shirley Chisholm’s quote: “If they don‘t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
“Forget about getting your foot in the door; with Locker Room Talk, we‘ve created our own door. Our goal is that it’s big enough to let in as many women as possible,” she said.
The fantastic lineup for Locker Room Talk includes NY Yankees hitting coach Rachel Balkovec, NFL Network’s MJ Acosta-Ruiz, and Chief Business Officer at A-Rod Corp. Kelly Laferriere. Also, MLB agent Lonnie Murray; diplomat and non-profit We Are All Human CEO Claudia Romo Edelman; MLB writer Shakeia Taylor; Turner Sports’ Lisa Byington (the first woman to call NCAA men’s March Madness game); and MLB Network’s Melanie Newman. The list includes ESPN’s Sarah Spain, Drone Racing League president Rachel Jacobson, and Arizona Diamondbacks’ Mariana Patraca.
