Salma Hayek stars in the official ‘Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ trailer

“The fate of Europe is in the hands of a sadistic hitman, an unlicensed bodyguard and a homicidal baby mama.”

After first releasing a teaser trailer back in April, the action-comedy sequel Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is back with a new, full-length trailer ahead of the film’s release next month.

The official trailer for the film--which acts as a sequel to the 2017 movie The Hitman’s Bodyguard--finds  Ryan Reynolds’  character, Michael Bryce, reluctantly pulled back into the world of bodyguarding as he’s united with  Salma Hayek’s  Sonia to try to rescue her husband, Darius Kincaid, played by Samuel L. Jackson. Also returning for the sequel is Richard E. Grant, along with newcomers Frank Grillo, Tom Hopper, Gabriella Wright, Morgan Freeman, and Antonio Banderas.

The teaser trailer picked up four years after the events of the first movie, with Michael Bryce receiving praise for being a good bodyguard to Darius Kincaid. Unfortunately for Bryce, this scene is just a nightmare, which leads to him being instructed by his therapist to take a break from his profession.

“I’m officially on sabbatical and, to be honest, I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner,” Bryce announces while lounging at a peaceful beach resort. “It’s as if the world’s been waiting for me to make this change. For the first time, I’m starting to imagine a life without body guarding.”

This vacation is cut short, however, when Reynolds’ character gets interrupted by a Sonia, who rips Bryce away to recruit him to rescue her husband.

In this new, full-length trailer, Reynolds and Jackson’s character are finally reunited as they go on a mission--alongside Salma Hayek’s character--to protect Europe from a major cyber attack. As they fight their way through the film, Sonia reveals her and Darius are trying to have a baby, making this mission all the more important.

Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (2021 Movie) Trailer – Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek

Just like the rest of the entertainment industry, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard experienced a few setbacks due to the ongoing pandemic. The film was originally set for release in August 2020, but ended up being postponed for almost an entire year.

While some studios took the road less traveled and switched to a streaming service release to bypass COVID-19 guidelines, The Hitman‘s Wife’s Bodyguard waited for theaters to open back up so fans could get the full experience. The movie is now set to premiere on June 16, 2021.
